I had a bit of a "blast from the past" yesterday. My old high school boyfriend gave me a ring to catch up. We went out for a few years, and I get it was as serious as a high-schoool relationship can get. I haven't seen him in three years, but we've kept in loose contact over the phone.
Anyway, it turns out he is going to be a father.
It just kind of jarred me a little bit. It's just one of those moments that everyone goes through as we're getting older. Seeing old friends and old boyfriends/girlfriends get married, have children, moving away, etc. It's so strange to see how much people's lives have changed that you used to be so close to. Our lives have gone in such drastically different directions. I guess it made me realize that we are all growing up and changing.
It is a little nuts, and I don't know if I'm ready for it. My best friend is also married and having a baby, and I just went with another good friend to pick out her wedding dress.
It's just weird, sometimes I feel like I am still a junior-high schooler, you know?

I just ran into an ex-boyfriend today in Brady, and it was a surreal experience. It took me so long to get over him, but now after almost 4 years, I think I can actually look him in the eye and be happy for him, no matter what he's doing.
But I agree it is strange to hear friends from long ago are accelerating down the family path, and I/we are still plodding through school. Oh well, there's still plenty of time for us! :)
